Kevin E. Andrade

Executive Managing Director, California

In his role as Executive Managing Director, California, Kevin Andrade has overall responsibility for development and construction in Mill Creek’s California region. Prior to this role, Kevin was the Senior Managing Director for Mill Creek’s West Coast Division, responsible for the company’s development and construction activity in California, Oregon and Washington. Kevin has more than 20 years of real estate experience, including 16 years with Trammell Crow Residential (TCR). He joined TCR in 1994 in Seattle and led the company's development efforts there until 1998, when he was promoted to Senior Managing Director for the Southern California Division. In that capacity, he led the development of approximately $1.5 billion of multifamily product. He was also a member of the TCR Management Board. Prior to TCR, he developed real estate in Central California for his own account. Kevin received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley in 1991. He holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and was a Hughes Fellow. Kevin received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Fresno State University in 1985, Summa Cum Laude. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, and sits on the Board of Directors for Families Forward, a non-profit organization providing transitional housing and homelessness prevention services. He is also a regular speaker at real estate events and panels.

Senior Managing Director, Mid-Atlantic

As Executive Managing Director and National Practice Leader, Chip Bay works with regional leaders and division-level development and construction teams to identify, evaluate, share, and implement the best development and construction practices throughout MCR. Previously, Chip serves as the Senior Managing Director for the Mid-Atlantic Division of Mill Creek, where he had oversight the development and construction of multi-family rental communities throughout the region. During his career Chip has been involved in the entitlement, development and construction of over 8,000 multifamily units. Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, he was a Senior Managing Director for Trammell Crow Residential where he was responsible for all phases of the development process for both rental and for-sale multifamily communities. Chip received his BA from Purdue University and his MBA from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Suburban Maryland Building Industry Association (SMBIA), the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA), the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also is on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery County, Maryland Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Montgomery Housing Partnership.

Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, Charlie was associated with Trammell Crow affiliated entities for 28 years, including the Trammell Crow Company, Crow Holdings, and Trammell Crow Residential where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Charlie’s real estate career also includes three years in commercial mortgage banking at Cameron Brown Company and more than seven years at Southwide Development Company, a Memphis-based real estate management and development firm where he served as Vice President of Finance and President and Chief Operating Officer. A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Charlie is a 1971 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His professional associations include membership in The Urban Land Institute (MF Blue Council), National Multi-Housing Council (Executive Committee), NAHB Multifamily Leadership Board (Chairman), and Lambda Alpha (International Land Economics.) Charlie currently serves as Chairman of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board, is a Director of Independent Holdings, Independent Bank, and Trammell Crow Residential and is a member of the Board of Visitors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Advisory Board for the Wood Center for Real Estate Development at the Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Chief Finance Officer

Ms. Brown is the Chief Financial Officer for the East Region of Mill Creek Residential Trust (MCRT) and is based in Rockville, Maryland. As CFO, she is responsible for sourcing and negotiating debt and equity for all development activity in the East Region. She also oversees annual budgeting and cash management for her territory.   Prior to MCRT, she joined Trammell Crow Residential in November 1999 as Chief Financial Officer.  In this role she was responsible for sourcing debt and equity for the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, New Jersey / Pennsylvania, and South Florida Divisions.  Since joining TCR in 1999, she has sourced over $1 billion of debt. Prior to working for Trammell Crow Residential, Ms. Brown was a Managing Director with G.E. Capital Investment Advisors (GECIA).   In that role she was responsible for all Northeast and Mid-Atlantic acquisition activity for GECIA’s public and private pension clients. While at GECIA, she specialized in apartment acquisitions, with responsibility for structuring a pre-sale program for one of the firm’s pension clients. During her tenure, she closed approximately $100 million of pre-sale transactions. Prior to working for GECIA, Ms. Brown was Director of Acquisitions for Drever Partners, a firm that purchased and renovated Class B multi-family units in the southeast and southwest.  As a Partner in the firm, she purchased over $300 million of multi-family units for two discretionary opportunity funds. Ms. Brown received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College and a Masters in Business from the Columbia Graduate School of Business.

Senior Managing Director, Mid-Atlantic

Sean Caldwell is the Senior Managing Director, Mid-Atlantic, where he has overall for the company's development activity in its Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to this position, Sean served as a Managing Director. During his career, Sean has been involved in the entitlement, development and construction of over 3,000 multifamily units. Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, he was a Managing Director for Trammell Crow Residential where he was responsible for all phases of the development process for both rental and for-sale multifamily communities.   Prior to joining Trammell Crow Residential, Sean was a Senior Project Manager with the civil engineering firm of VIKA, Inc. In this role, Sean’s responsibilities included the design, coordination, management, and approval of multiple development projects throughout the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area. Projects varied from 500 unit multifamily development projects to 200,000 sf commercial redevelopment projects.   Sean received his Bachelor of Science Degree from George Mason University in Civil Engineering. He is a member of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA), the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also has served in various capacities with the Northern Virginia Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Vice President, Construction

Tony Canavino serves as Mill Creek's Vice President of Construction for the Mountain States Division and is based in Denver, Colorado. Tony is responsible for providing leadership and management of construction activities and personnel for multifamily construction. Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, Tony served as Vice President of Construction for Trammell Crow Residential Mountain States Division where he delivered more than 2,500 multifamily units in the Denver metropolitan area. Prior to joining Trammell Crow Residential, Tony served as Vice President for Century Communities, a Denver-based multifamily developer. Prior to Century Communities Tony served in various positions with Del Webb Communities as Vice President operating in Arizona, California and Nevada. Tony left Del Webb after 14 years to move to Colorado. Tony is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Michigan State University.

Construction President, MidAtlantic

Jon joined Mill Creek Residential at its inception in 2010, bringing over 25 years experience in the construction industry.  Jon is currently responsible for the leadership and management of construction personnel and the multi-family construction for the Mid-Atlantic Division.  Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, he was with Trammell Crow Residential, where he held similar responsibilities. Prior to joining TCR, Jon was the Vice President of Production for one of the country’s leading REITS, Archstone-Smith in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  Prior to Archstone-Smith, Mr. Conte started the Mid-Atlantic Regional Construction office for Summit Properties.  While at Summit he built that office from1 employee to 12 professionals within 15 months, with four active construction projects and three projects in the preconstruction/design development stage. Jon has worked with several regional construction companies in various capacities over the past 25 years.  He has worked on private and public projects ranging from Federal Government contract to commercial office and multi-family residential of all types.  He has extensive experience managing multiple projects concurrently as well as responsibility for pre construction support services to the Development Group Jon graduated with a BS degree in Building Construction from Auburn University. He is based in the Rockville, Maryland office

Vice President of Development

Jeb Cox serves as Vice President of Development in the Texas/Mountain States Division for Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC. He is responsible for sourcing and executing the company’s development activities in the Houston and San Antonio metropolitan markets. In 2005, Jeb joined Trammell Crow Residential (“TCR”) where he served as Managing Director in its Houston office. During his tenure at TCR, the company built over 6,500 units in the Houston area. Prior to TCR, Jeb served as Director of Multifamily Acquisitions for the Creekstone Companies and was a brokerage associate with CB Richard Ellis. Prior to starting his real estate career, Jeb served as a Legislative Aide for a US Senator in Washington, DC and lived in Botswana, Africa where he worked in a photographic safari camp in the Okavango Delta. Jeb holds a BA from the Virginia Military Institute.

Mr. Crum is the President of Construction for Mill Creek Residential Trust (MCRT), Florida Region. Since joining MCRT in 2010, he has been responsible for leadership and management of construction personnel and multifamily construction. Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, he was the President of Construction for one of the country’s largest multifamily developers, Trammell Crow Residential (TCR). While at TCR, he built over 3,000 units. Before TCR, he worked at Gables Residential where he built over 1,000 multifamily units in Celebration, Florida. Mr. Crum has worked on several regional construction projects in various capacities over the past sixteen years. He has worked on projects ranging from multi-family residential, hi-rise condominiums, commercial office, commercial retail, and commercial restaurants. He has extensive experience managing multiple projects concurrently as well as pre-construction support services to the Development Group. Mr. Crum attended the University of Central Florida and received an Associate in Arts degree and his Florida State General Contractors License in 1995. He is an Accredited Professional for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

He started his career with Kenneth Leventhal and Company as a real estate consultant, focusing on valuations and workouts for the RTC and private clients.  Mark received both his undergraduate degree in finance and his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Wesley H. Dickerson

Managing Director, Acquisitions, East Region

Wesley H. Dickerson serves a Managing Director of Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC where he is responsible for implementing MCRT's East Region investment and acquisition strategies, including sourcing, underwriting, negotiating, and managing targeted investment opportunities. Wesley was previously a Managing Director with Trammell Crow Residential where he was responsible for investment and acquisition strategies in the Central Region. Prior to TCR, Wesley was with Simmons Vedder Partners, a real estate investment and development partnership from 2006 to 2010. He was a founding member of the firm's debt acquisition platform and successfully led the sourcing and acquisition of performing and non-performing real estate loans. Prior to focusing on debt investments, Wesley concentrated on the firm's merchant development platform. His focus included site acquisition, pre-development feasibility, equity and debt financing, design development, development management, and on-going asset operations. His development experience includes a broad range of asset types including land, commercial, mixed-use, student housing, and multi-family. Wesley started his career in 2001 with Crow Holdings, the investment office of the Trammell Crow family. He was a Vice President in the Multi-Family and Land Group and was responsible for multi-family investment activity through acquisition and development joint venture opportunities in various target markets in the United States. Wesley graduated with departmental distinction from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with Financial Application. Wesley also holds a General Course degree from The London School of Economics in London, England with an emphasis on International Economics and Economic History. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Council of Austin (LDC), and the University of Texas Real Estate Finance and Investment Center Associate Council.

Chad DuBeau

Managing Director, Mid-Atlantic

Mr. Chad DuBeau is the Managing Director of the Mid-Atlantic division.  Prior to joining MCRT, Mr. DuBeau was a Managing Director with Trammell Crow Residential and was with the company from 2004 through 2010.  Mr. DuBeau is responsible for pursuing new development opportunities, product design, and the pursuit of entitlements to meet all local jurisdictional requirements. Prior to joining Trammell Crow Residential, Mr. DuBeau was a Regional Operations Manager/Team Leader with the Bozzuto Group, a role in which he was active throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with a concentration on the Washington, DC and Baltimore markets.  At Bozzuto, he was responsible for all phases of development for multiple product categories, including multifamily homes, town homes and single-family homes, and land development projects.  Prior to Bozzuto, he worked as a Project Manager for Milestone Communities and as Project Engineer for VIKA, Inc. Mr. DuBeau obtained a BS from University of Delaware in Civil and Environmental Engineering and an MBA from the George Washington University.

Michael C. Genthe

Managing Director, Southern California

Mr. Genthe joined TCR in March 1998 with responsibility for pursing multifamily development opportunities and entitlements in the Southern California region. He manages a development team responsible for the creation of new multifamily communities in Los Angeles, north Orange and Ventura Counties. Since joining TCR, Mr. Genthe had successfully developed and currently has under entitlement approximately 2,900 units with a combined capitalization of over $1 billion.   Prior to joining TCR, Mr. Genthe was a partner and Executive Vice President with Beneficial Realty Group. He was primarily responsible for the acquisition, major rehabilitation, daily asset management and property disposition involving a 14-project portfolio comprised of apartment, retail and office properties located in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Mr. Genthe was Director of Investment & Development for Lycon Properties, Inc., which was one of the ten largest multifamily and single family estate housing developers in Southern California during the late 1980’s. He was responsible for arranging equity capital funding, disposition of apartment buildings and marketing of single family estate developments with a combined value of over $400 million.   Mr. Genthe attended the London School of Economics in London, England and completed his Graduate Diploma of Economics in 1982. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1981. He has also been a licensed NASAD security principal. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Alexander P. Gill

Managing Director, Aquisitions, West Region

Alex Gill serves as a Managing Director of the Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC Investment Group, tasked with executing MCRT's investment and acquisition strategy for the Western United States. Alex's responsibilities include sourcing new acquisitions, market analysis, financial underwriting, due diligence, and financing of multifamily investments. Prior to the MCRT start-up, Alex joined Trammell Crow Residential in the Southern California Division in 2005, and has held positions in acquisition and development focusing on site acquisition, due diligence, entitlements, site planning, design development and project management for numerous multifamily developments totaling 1,660 units throughout Southern California. Before joining TCR, Alex was President of Gill Development, Inc., a land development and brokerage firm, where on behalf of clients and for his own account, he entitled and sold over 1,000 single family lots. In addition, he was Vice President of Enterprise Sales for Greenwich Technology Partners, a national technology firm that built-out network infrastructure and data centers for Fortune 500 clients. Previously, Alex served as Executive Vice President for SQA Services, Inc., a global supply chain management consulting firm. Under his leadership, SQA was recognized as the 5th fastest growing privately held company in Los Angeles, growing its revenues 650 percent over a two year period and adding 250 new jobs. Alex started his career in real estate as a Marketing Associate with Voit Commercial Brokerage in Orange County, California where he specialized in the disposition and leasing of office and industrial real estate. Alex Gill earned a B.S. in Public Administration and Planning from the University of Southern California in 1992 and attended the Pepperdine University Presidential/Key Executive MBA program. He is a licensed California real estate broker and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Chief Operating Officer

Mike Hefley serves as Mill Creek’s Chief Operations Officer, with overall responsibility for all property-level operations, asset management, marketing, and branding. In this role, Mike is responsible for the creation of Mill Creek’s Property and Asset Management organization that will oversee day-to-day operations for Mill Creek assets in select markets. This new division will provide a platform to create value for Mill Creek’s development and acquisition communities. In addition, Mike oversees our asset management function, working with our property management providers to maximize the return on investments of both internal and external partners. Mike joined Mill Creek Residential in 2012 after serving as Director for five years at Wood Partners, where he had similar responsibilities. Prior to joining Wood Partners, Mike was a founding partner in The Comunidades Group, an owner and manager of Hispanic Centric Housing. Before co-founding TCG, Mike served as Chief Operating Officer at Gables Residential Trust, a $2.5 billion NYSE-traded REIT, where he led an operating team that managed more than 50,000 units. Steve Hester serves as Vice President of Construction for the Northern California division of Mill Creek Residential. Steve’s career experience includes both rental and for sale residential product encompassing a variety of attached product design types and uses including mixed-use and TOD projects, senior citizen conventional, congreagate and assisted living facilities. Steve most recently served at Trammell Crow Residential where he held the position of Construction President for the Northern California division. Steve joined TCR in 1988 as Project Manager in the greater Sacramento Valley of Northern California. Prior to that time, from 1982 to 1987, Steve held project management positions in Northern California with the Robert Randall Company and Pacific Scene, Inc. where he was responsible for the processing of discretionary approvals, coordination of design consultants and construction of multi-family apartment projects. In 1992 Steve left TCR to form a construction and real estate consulting company located in Sacramento, California. As Principal, Steve directed the acquisition, design, processing and construction of single and multi-family residential rental and for sale projects. In September 1997, Steve rejoined TCR as a Project Manager in Sacramento and Washington State. He was promoted to Vice President of Construction for Northern California in December 1998 and to President of Construction for Northern California in 2004. Steve has participated in the development and construction of over 10,000 multi-family residential units in California, Nevada and Washington States since 1982.  Steve received his MBA from California State University, Sacramento in 1981. He has completed post-graduate work at DePaul University, Chicago, and received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Finance from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1975. He is a State of California Licensed General Contractor.

Mr. Hewitt serves as a Vice President for Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC (MCRT).  Mr. Hewitt is responsible for development operations in Boston.  His responsibilities include pursuing new development opportunities, product design, the pursuit of entitlements to meet all local jurisdictional requirements, and overseeing the development and construction process. Prior to joining MCRT, from 2005 to 2010, Mr. Hewitt served as a Development Associate and Vice President in the Northeast for Trammell Crow Residential (TCR). Prior to joining the company in 2005, Mr. Hewitt spent 11 years as a geotechnical engineer and environmental consultant with Haley & Aldrich, Inc., working in their Real Estate Business Unit on a wide variety of real estate projects in and around Boston. Mr. Hewitt received a BS in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University in 1992 and a MS in Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1994. Mr. Hewitt is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts and a LEED Accredited Professional.

He has over 19 years of experience in civil engineering, land use planning, and real estate development in California, Washington and Oregon, and has developed multi-family, senior, and condominium communities as well as mixed use projects.   Immediately prior to joining TCR, Sean was Vice President of AMCAL Multi-Housing, where he developed communities throughout California, and was previously with The Related Companies. As Executive Managing Director, Finance, Alan Kolar has oversight of Mill Creek’s project-level finance strategy and execution, and venture finance strategy and execution. Prior to this role, Alan served as the Senior Managing Director for the Southeast and North Florida Divisions of Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC, and has overall responsibility for the company's development and construction activities in those divisions. Prior to joining Mill Creek, Alan held a variety of positions at Trammell Crow Residential (TCR) over a 14 year period. His tenure with TCR began in 1996 when he became Vice President of Operations for Accommodations America, TCR's extended stay housing division. After completing a merger of Accommodations America and Execustay Corporation, in May 1998, Alan was promoted to Chief Financial Officer for TCR's Southeast Group. In this role he coordinated the financing, sale and/or refinancing of approximately 3,000 multifamily units in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. In February of 2003, Alan was promoted to Senior Managing Director of the North Florida Division and relocated to Orlando, Florida. Between 2003 and 2010 the North Florida Division of TCR completed the sale of over 4,100 apartment units and developed approximately 2,100 apartment and condominium units throughout central and north Florida. Alan has held previous positions with Security Capital Industrial Trust (now known as Prologis) in Atlanta, GA and with SouthTrust Bank in Tampa, FL. Alan received his BS and MBA degrees from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, an Advisory Board Member of the Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Florida.

He joined TCR as a Project Manager in 1998 and was promoted to Vice President in 2002, and oversaw the construction of numerous communities throughout Texas. He worked closely with the development team beginning with the conceptual, predevelopment and preconstruction phase through to project completion. Rick was a Project Manager for the Hanover Company in Houston from 1991 until 1996. Based in Houston, he oversaw many projects in North Carolina. Prior to that, he was a Field Supervisor for Jagger Builders of Austin, Texas on projects in both Texas and North Carolina. His strong multi-family background includes the construction of over 8,000 units. Rick attended the University of Houston and Southwest State University.

In his role as Managing Director, Finance, Eric Lezak has oversight of project-level finance strategy and execution in Mill Creek’s California and Texas/Mountain States/Pacific NW region. Mr. Lezak joined Mill Creek Residential Trust in August, 2010 where he more recently served as the Chief Financial Officer for the company’s West Region. Prior that, Eric was at Trammel Crow Residential (TCR) where he was responsible for managing debt and equity relationships, asset management and other financial administrative functions. Prior to joining TCR, he was Vice President with Fremont Investment & Loan, with responsibility for underwriting and originating commercial and residential construction loans ranging from $10 million to $125 million. While at Fremont Investment & Loan, Mr. Lezak financed the development of a wide variety of real estate projects, including apartments, condominiums, hotel, retail, and office. Prior to Fremont Investment & Loan, Mr. Lezak was a Senior Portfolio Manager with American Realty Advisors where he managed national real estate portfolios on behalf of public and Taft-Hartley retirement plans. Mr. Lezak received his B.A. in Accounting from Santa Clara University and a Masters Degree in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. He is a certified public accountant and a licensed real estate broker.

In her role as Chief Administrative Officer, Rachel Purcell has responsibility for Mill Creek’s audit, accounting,, reporting, human resources, information technology, risk management and legal. Prior to her current position, Rachel served as Mill Creek’s Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Mill Creek, Rachel was the CFO at Snelling Staffing, LLC, a national staffing service bureau. Rachel’s career also includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer of CAS/Riverstone Residential, one of the largest multifamily property managers in the U.S., and Chief Accounting Officer of Trammell Crow Residential. Rachel spent nine years at Deloitte in the audit department serving various private and public real estate companies in Texas, California, and Minnesota. Rachel is a native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, a graduate of the University of Southern California, and holds her CPA license in Texas and California. She is a member of Financial Executives International, Real Estate Financial Executives Association, American Institute of CPA’s, and Commercial Real Estate Women. Rachel has served on the board of CREW, acted as an ambassador for FEI, and is active in the local alumni association for USC.

Mr. Rhodes joined Trammell Crow Residential in November 1998 as Vice President of Construction for the Southern California Region. Prior to joining TCR, Mr. Rhodes was the Los Angeles Area Manager for Condon Johnson and Associates, a general engineering contractor specializing in deep foundation construction, shoring and concrete work. He was active in the ADSC Association of Foundation Contractors as a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Rhodes worked with Morley Construction Company in Santa Monica from 1989 to 1995 as a Project Manager successfully completing over $75 million of construction on a range of commercial and residential projects. He worked with Tutor Saliba Corporation as a Project Manager from 1983 to 1989. During his tenure with Tutor Saliba Corporation, he built facilities for the San Francisco water department and then moved to Southern California to complete a high rise condominium project.   Mr. Rhodes attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1977. He continued his education at San Diego State University graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and in 2003 received his MBA from USC.

Maria received a B.B.A. in International Business from James Madison University and earned an M.S. in Real Estate Finance and Investment from New York University. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and a board member of Vision Long Island.

Sam Rodriguez

Managing Director, Oregon

Sam Rodriguez serves as Managing Director in Oregon for Mill Creek Residential Trust. Formerly, he served as a Development Associate for the Pacific Northwest division with Trammell Crow Residential. Before joining TCR, Sam worked as a Project Manager for a Portland residential developer for two years and prior to that practiced architecture for 16 years, the last six as a Senior Associate and Project Manager at SERA Architects, Incorporated in Portland, Oregon. In that capacity, Sam Mr. Rodriguez the design and oversaw construction of several award winning, urban mixed-use and multifamily housing projects in the Portland area. Projects he managed while at SERA include 8 NW 8, The Avenue Lofts, The Civic and The Tate Condominiums. At TCR, Sam successfully managed Tupelo Alley and Riva on the Park from design through construction.  Sam received a Bachelor of Architecture from the Central University of Venezuela in 1987. He is a registered Architect in Washington DC and Venezuela.

Executive Managing Director, Texas/Mountain States/Pacific Northwest

Darren Schackman serves as Mill Creek’s Executive Managing Director with oversight of all development and construction in the company’s Texas, Mountain States and Pacific Northwest regions. Prior this position, Darren was Senior Managing Director for Mill Creek’s Texas and Mountain States Division. Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, Darren was a Development Associate at Trammel Crow Residential (TCR), where we was promoted to Senior Managing Director for TCR’s North Texas Division. In this role he led the development, finance, and construction teams on more than 20 multifamily rental and for-sale communities. Previous to his tenure at TCR, Darren was the Vice President of Development for a private development firm in Dallas and Galveston, Texas. Darren began his career with the City of Galveston where he rose to the position of Director of Planning and Development. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Regional Development.

Darren Schackman serves at the Senior Managing Director for the North Texas/Mountain States Division of Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC (MCRT). Darren’s responsibilities include development, construction and financing of multifamily developments. Prior to joining MCRT, Darren was the Senior Managing Director for the North Texas Division of Trammell Crow Residential. In this role he was charged with leading the development, finance, and construction teams for the Division. He has overseen the development of over 20 multifamily rental and for-sale communities. Darren joined TCR in 2001 as a development associate. In July 2006, he was promoted to Senior Managing Director and charged with starting the new North Texas Division. Prior to joining TCR, Darren was the Vice President of Development for a private development firm in Dallas and Galveston, Texas. Darren began his career with the City of Galveston where he rose to the position of Director of Planning and Development. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Regional Development

Ron Schulman

Vice President of Construction

Ron Schulman serves as Vice President of Construction for Mill Creek Residential Trust LLC.  Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential, Ron acted as Vice President of Construction for Trammell Crow Residential, where he developed construction budgets and oversaw all aspects of construction purchasing.  Prior to joining TCR in 2000, Mr. Schulman held the position of Vice President of Construction for Fassberg Construction, a Los Angeles based General Contractor. During his 15 year employment there, Mr. Schulman budgeted and managed construction of over 35 multifamily projects including market rate rentals, condominiums, mixed use, senior, low income, HUD, transitional living, rehab, and earthquake reconstruction, as well as over 1,000,000 square feet of office and retail space.  Mr. Schulman received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Rutgers University in 1975 and a Certificate of Construction Management from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1978.

Sam Simone

Senior Managing Director, Atlanta

Sam Simone serves as a Managing Director in the Mid-Atlantic region for Mill Creek Residential. In this role, Sam is responsible for assisting the Mid Atlantic Senior Managing Director in pursuing new development opportunities, product design, and the pursuit of entitlements to meet all local jurisdictional requirements. Prior to joining Mill Creek Residential at its formation in August, 2010, Sam served at Trammell Crow Residential for 10 years as a Development Associate and later, Managing Director. Prior to joining Trammell Crow Residential, Sam was a Senior Real Estate Consultant with Arthur Andersen’s Real Estate Consulting Portfolio Services Group in New York City. In this role, Sam’s responsibilities included the management of due diligence and advisory service projects including both single-asset and portfolio real estate acquisitions, financings, depositions; commercial mortgage backed securities transactions (CMBS) valuations and “B-Piece” acquisitions, joint venture analysis valuation, and office and hotel development financial modeling/analysis for investment banks and large institutional investors. Sam received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York in Business Administration/Finance.

Shari Steinhardt

Chief Accounting Officer

Shari Steinhardt is the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) for Mill Creek Residential Trust (MCRT). As CAO, she oversees the accounting department that is responsible for all financial reporting. Prior to joining MCRT, she was CAO of Trammell Crow Residential. Shari has been associated with Trammell Crow affiliated entities for over 22 years serving in different accounting capacities. She started her career with local CPA firms, focusing on audit and tax. Shari received her Bachelor’s in Accounting from Auburn University. Shari and her family reside in Boca Raton, Florida.
